Hummingbird feeders are completely different than standard bird feeder but will only be effective in certain areas of the world. They don’t eat seeds so they need a sugar water solution and they will lap it up happily.
In the same way that you use canopies and covered porches to protect yourself from the rain, you should give your avian friends some places to take shelter. Bird houses are pretty necessary to making sure that those birds hand around. Some of them will make their own homes but why not make it easier? Also, you don’t want them roosting in your eves so give them someplace else.
These kinds of projects can be wonderfully simple or amazing complex. It is all what you make it. You could find yourself redesigning your entire garden to accommodate your new found, winged friends. Or you could just buy some potted plants and hang up a couple bird feeders and call it good.
