“When I look at the beauty
all around me in theses mountains I still am at
awe at the wonder of it all, even after all these
years! I couldn’t think of a better place
to live and raise my kids”.
Rusty Schurm-Ownes is a local
artist self taught who found color when taking
her first painting class is 2001 at South Western
Community College and photography classes at SCC
and Western Carolina University, Sylva and Cullowhee,
NC.
“I’ve always doodled
and drawn through the years, but work seemed to
get in the way of a life time dream to devote
my energy to artwork and writing. Now as an adult
thinking of retirement, I thought perhaps it was
time to jump in and see if I could pass some of
the beauty to others that I see on a day to day
basis”.
Most of my drawings/paintings
are in a realistic style although in the past
few months something reached out to me and my
Native American background and I started my collection
of “symbols of the Animal Spirit”.
The signed, Numbered, limited
edition Giclee` images that I have drawn/painted
are done in a variety of media combinations including
water color, acrylic, charcoal and pencil.
I hope as you invite one of
my works of art into your home that you will find
the peace and tranquility which flows through
these mountains, or just whimsical fun!
