Sharon Cross lives in Webster, North Carolina
where she continues to experiment with and discover
disparate bits of individual and corporate memory.
Although she works with color and alternative
processes, she most often chooses to use black
and white, which lends itself to recollection
and dreaming.
A graduate of Western Carolina University,
she received her BFA in Fine Art Photography
and Studio Art.
“My visual vocabulary is evocative of
the minutiae of our existence, those small parts
of our lives that want to pass mostly unnoticed.
Looking through the camera lens allows me to
pay attention to these fleeting moments and
to capture the quality of a memory or story.
The stories most often allow the viewer to apply
his/her own meanings.”
